Water-Stewardship Mentoring Program

William Floyd Community Summit received a grant through the Brookhaven
National Lab. This grant covered the costs for the second annual Island Launching
project. On May 20th, 2009 students from both of the William Floyd Middle Schools
participated in this program. This year, students installed two
Bio-Haven Floating
Islands into the West Mill Pond. Our young environmentalists launched a 60 sq ft.
island and a 25 sq ft island. Their efforts helped to bring awareness to the
community as well as actively helped to save the Forge River!

Through teaching and mentoring the
                                            Forge River can be saved!

School is in Session!

In order to save the Forge
River it is crucial that we
educate our community on
the elements affecting our
waterways. Through
advertisements, science
forums, and school projects
we strive to continuously
keep you informed!
